I read the Jane Hawk novel in the last 6 months, and this is just as good as those. This book is basically a stand-alone, so I liked that I didn't have to wait for the next book and the next book to know the actual fate of the world.
The stakes in Howe's book are, of course, huge, but perhaps not quite as fantastical and obviously world-changing. But you do get at least two international evil cabals, so that's something!
I definitely wanted to know what would happen, and there are interesting characters throughout.
I liked the technical aspects of the flight and the kidnapping--it keeps you on your toes with the dangerousness and the technicality of the whole situation. I guess I personally won't become an international hostage-negotiator or anything, but it makes for a good read!
