First of all, I'd like to give a huge thanks to the people at BookishFirst for giving me a finished copy! This is my first book I've earned from them and I am so grateful for it. Now, on to my review!

I was locked into the Marie Lu's new world from the very first sentence. The narrator and main character, Talin, was a great insight to the story. She's captivating and had such a realistic feel to her voice. In most books told in first person, I tend to get annoyed by the main characters innermost thoughts. Not in this case. The best part about Talin's narration was her connection to Red's thoughts. I have never read a book with a character like Red. He's broken, yet strong. His appearance still is stuck in my mind (especially with those 40 foot wings)!

There were plenty up positives, but my main negative point comes from the fact that the plot felt a bit recycled. Haven't we all read a book about a rag-tag group of rebels teaming up against an evil power trying to take over the land? That being said, the fight sequences were graphic, the characters grew, and there is a lot leaving me excited for the next installment. Oh, and did I talk about how crazy the last few pages were?!?!
