Thank you to @Libro.FM for an ALC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I am a Marie Lu stan. I'll read anything and everything she writes. While Skyhunter wasn't quite as high on my list as Warcross or The Kingdom of Back, I still loved it.

The Karensa Federation has spread its imperialistic claws throughout the world besides Mara. Genetically mutated humans that have changed into Ghosts terrorize the human population under the control of the Premier of the Karensa Federation. Refugees flee not only war but this terrifying beasts and the possibility of becoming one. The last defense is the Strikers of Mara, but as the number of Ghosts grow, defeat seems inevitable.

Talin Kanami has been robbed of her home, her father and her voice. Talin exists as an outsider in Mara, but she's determined to be the best Striker she can be. When a mysterious prisoner is brought to them, Talin knows something is right. He might be a spy or the weapon they need to destroy the Federation.

I loved Talin so much. Since she is mute, she relies on sign language to communicate with all her friends. Strikers have to know how to sign as part of their field training. Her strength and tenacity is a focal point of the story. She will not let anything harm her friends or her mother if she has the power to stop it.

The world building in this story was so cool. Not only the way Ghosts are created, but how they track their prey, the psychic bonds involved and so much more about something called a Skyhunter. There was such a good blend of science and magic here which I loved.
