A bit predictable but still fun

I just finished reading this from the library! I'm a big fan of Marie Lu, especially Warcross, so I had high hopes for this one.

Some parts were amazing. There were strong male and female characters. The main character, due to trauma, didn't speak. Instead she used sign language, which was wonderfully done. It just so helps that the strikers stay silent when hunting the Ghosts, because the monsters can track sound so well, and instead they utilize a short hand sign language. That was such a cool aspect.

The plot itself was a little predictable. I guessed the first big twist and the romance was on par with YA fantasy in general.

However, there is also some LGBT romance, good fighting, and strong characters, like the mom as well. So the good completely outweighs the bad and left it very enjoyable! I'm excited to read book two because there is a bit of a cliffhanger!
