I love Marie Lu's writing. Always have and always will. With Skyhunter, she creates a fascinating world that is very interesting through the eyes of a girl who can't speak. It's very different from the usual characters we would expect and despite not having a voice, all her actions speak louder as she defies the principles of being a striker. I was shocked when Corian had to die and absolutely loved Jeran the most.
"Eyes forward my deathdancer"
That line will forever stick with me and absolutely enjoyed Red and Talin's story as they slowly but surely develop feelings for each other to the point that by the end, you are filled with that desire to keep reading! I just bought the second book and you will NOT be disappointed. My respect goes to Marie Lu for her excellent writing. The rich descriptions make you feel like you're there and the ghosts remind me an awful lot of the monster chasing the character in temple run or the grimm monsters from RWBY. It is an excellent world to plunge to where you get to see the power of imperialism as well as how race and culture plays a role in the complicated society of the kerensa federation.
