"Immortality is tricky business."

This is one of those books where I read it and I'm left wondering what just happened. This book feels very character oriented, it feels like it's very reflective on people and what their doing moreso than having action sequences or even chapters where ~something~ happens. Character oriented stories are fine, but some of the fantasy elements left me confused and I really could not figure out if this was a fantasy or just magical realism. I didn't have an issue getting sucked into the book, but as soon as I put it down I had a hard time wanting to open it again.

After finishing this book, I cannot really tell you about anything specific that happened in this book. I have read some of the other reviews since, and let me tell you: this book went way over my head. So many people talk about symbolism and critique on Hollywood and the people involved in it, but I was just reading the story at face value. Because of that, I probably don't have the same appreciation for this story that others do.

So if you read this book and wonder why you don't love it as much as everyone else, I'm here to say: do not worry. You are not alone!

I really don't have much else to say about this book, I was intrigued from the synopsis but I'm left wondering what actually was supposed to happen in this story. I am sure I will be in the minority in not caring much about this book, but I really did try to love it! I do have many tabs in my copy, the authors writing was just wonderful, and I think this is a very quotable book too. I just wasn't able to read with the same depth others could in this one.
