I'm going to be honest - I think a lot of metaphors/nuances/actual events went over my head but I had a good time reading it nonetheless. I think I enjoyed the parts about names and the references to fae the most. I think using that as a base for some of the magic in the book set in Hollywood was genius (though I don't claim that this is 100% what the magic was based on because to be honest I wasn't 100% sure what was magic vs metaphor). I enjoyed the relationships in this book - I think the relationship between the main character and her sister was the most interesting, although it wasn't really explored that much. I really liked Greta as a character and appreciated her arc and motivations. In terms of the main character, I have never read about anybody like her. She wasn't likable, but she wasn't supposed to be. She was driven, and messy, and somewhat ruthless, and thoroughly enjoyable to read about. I don't really know what the ending means, but I liked it. It didn't wrap the story up in a bow which would have felt like a disservice to the story Vo was telling. I do think people who like weird magic books would like this one, and have a couple friends I would recommend it to (would be a GREAT book club book due to all of the possible interpretations). Overall, I enjoyed this book quite a lot.
