This was an excellent book. I am not a sports fan, and I know nothing about sports.
This book was a fascinating story about child abuse, group tribalism, and college football. It's about two young men, one of whom has "issues." This young man is gifted. A considered examination of tribalism through the lens of collegiate football. The football descriptions were mostly excellent and engaging. After I got through the first
couple chapters, I found myself unable to put
the book down until I finished. It is a moving story that prompts the reader to reconsider institutions through the lens of the cultures they foster or reinforce. Highly\srecommend. It is a book that will elicit thought and debate. It was heartbreaking to
read about how less the players are actually
cared for, they are used to win a game that
no longer feels like a game at some point. It
was an emotional read for me, but i am happy
i got to see this side of college football.
