What would you do? Would you live your life over again? Would you change the one tragic thing in your life knowing that doing the right thing means losing the people and life you have come to depend on?

Maria has a baby on the way as well as two young kids and a loving husband. Her life is hectic with her family as well as her career, but everything changes when a new patient warns her of upcoming events, telling her things that are impossible for her to know, but before fate can play out Maria wakes up in her 17-year-old body with an impossible choice and time is running out before it is no longer her choice to make.

I can already see this winning the 2021 Goodreads Choice Award in the Debut category. It is hard to believe this is a debut novel. It is such a well-written story that it is hard to believe the author doesn’t already have a dozen other best-selling novels. I never, ever give a 5-star review. Maybe a few 4.5 but I can never get myself to give
5 stars, but I can confidently say I think it deserves all 5 of those stars. I read a lot of books, which means I have read my fair share of good, average, and bad books. Out of all the books, I have read this is one on the top of my list. It’s hard for me to find a book where I get lost in the story and find it hard to stop. But just at the moment, I think I will call it quits and go to sleep something else would happen that had me keep reading.

What made me love this book so much was that it wasn’t just another one of those live your life again books. It took a whole new twist to the story. The plot isn’t just what she does in this new life she is given in her younger self, but also the mystery and tragic life she has left behind. She has to figure out why she was sent back, what she will do now that she knows. She has to deal with the crazy situation she has caused by not hiding that she doesn’t belong in the timeline, while also dealing with the situation she has left back home.

The book starts off so strong that I would have been perfectly fine just reading the mystery in her own time, but then to add on that she does back in time herself adds so much to the book.

We have a lot of different things to uncover in this book, which is why it was so interesting and entertaining. Maria through the story slowly remembers the moments before she leaves her 39-year-old self. We also have the mystery of who killed somebody in her real timeline and what led to that happening.

The book doesn’t only follow Maria, but it also follows the story of a woman named Jenny. Without spoiling, Jenny’s story also is an important one to follow which will slowly help to uncover some of the unanswered questions and helps to add a whole new dimension to the story. Having both of these people to follow helps me to keep interesting in the book by having two equally entertaining subplots to follow and helps me to not get bored by constantly following only one.

This isn’t your average mystery. I really liked how this aspect of the story was done because a person or an idea would be put in and we would have to continue to read to put the pieces together into how they tie in with the other characters and why they are important to the story because they all play a significant rule. Having all these different unanswered questions and constantly changing situations really had me craving to read more.

The external conflict of the people who don’t believe her and the tragic situation she is in isn’t the only thing this book has going for it. We have the internal struggle Maria deals with in deciding what she is going to do. The struggle she has made this book very relatable and caused the reader to do some deep thinking into what they would do. This helps bring the story to life and helps us to feel for the characters. You could see her point for both decisions which made me practically unable to decide what she would do.

I could go on and on. I am sure I will think of even more points as to why this book is so captivating but I help that this shows why this should definitely be on the top f your TBR list. I can’t wait to see what else this author has to offer.
