Having read the previous books in the series, I was prepared for Dolly to exit prison bent on getting her due (and she was), but less prepared for the array of characters and complexity of her plot to get it. While I loved the guise prepared for the public eye (potential home for children) I found the jump from the expected return of her diamonds to train robber (and such a complex one at that) to be a bit unrealistic. Having said that, the detail put into her planning, practicing and careful execution of the crime is brilliant and I could have seen it in an entirely separate novel of it's own! I will admit to feeling let down that our strong, creative Dolly is brought down so quickly and gruesomely by one of her own as well. The discovery of the money years later was a nice touch. Overall and as always, I enjoyed the book....LaPlante has a wonderful way with words.
