I've never read any of La Plante's previous books, but I see she has a lot and she has a good following. That being said, this book just wasn't for me. I forced myself to finish because I saw so many 4/5 star ratings on Goodreads for this. I'm not sure where the high ratings came from, because this book was NOT GOOD. It could be because I haven't read any of the other books in this triliogy so I may not be the best reviewer for this, but from what I read, I just didn't like any of the characters, the plot or anything. I just didn't get it!
It seemed to me that the book was trying to hard to live up to La Plante's expectations maybe? The writing fell flat, the characters were one dimensional and the plot was next to nothing but some how managed to have a huge (ahem fake) plot twist at the end? Not buying it.
