There are so many korean pop culture references and I love it! As a huge fan of kpop and kdramas it was fun seeing all the references. Hannah is a bit like my non-fan friends. In the beginning, she makes the effort to try kpop and kdramas to get her ex back. But when you are this assimilated in American culture it is hard. I also understand Hannah in a way. I think most Asian Americans have had the experience of feeling like they don't fit in so they try to be "more American" and distance themselves from their culture and heritage. I am glad I didn't ended up like that and still enjoy the beauty and traditions of my Chinese culture. Expectations in an Asian household is also relatable in this novel. Jacob's perspective also gives an inside look of how hard and brutal the Korean entertainment industry really is. I believe Jacob will really change Hannah to embrace her Korean side while Hannah would be a comfort to Jacob as a celebrity with no privacy and have to watch his every move.
