I enjoyed this second chance romance story. The two main characters (Hannah & Jacob) were friends but separated years ago when Jacob and his family had to return to South Korea for his father's funeral, and Jacob never came back. Hannah was hurt and didn’t know why her best friend had left her. Hannah is such a well written and relatable character - her hurt feelings over her history with Jacob resonated and made their romance that much sweeter, while Jacob’s feelings of isolation and his hunger to have a normal life with people who truly knew him also hit the right nerve for me. How that weighed against the obligation he felt to give away pieces of himself to benefit his family is something I can't begin to imagine! The dramatic up-and-downs of Jacob and Hannah's relationship as they navigated being childhood best friends, to strangers, to friends, to lovers was reminiscent of K-dramas because of way the differences in how Jacob and Hannah explore their Korean American identity and their relationship with their cultures related to their shared history.

A love story to Korea and its culture.
