This book is heavy, and needs to be taken in small portions. I started the book and read it within a day, because of this I was left with the heavy burden of the content and had a hard time digesting what I had read. I think the book is deceiving since it is a small book, that people can read it quickly.

The first few stories I really enjoyed and it opened my eyes to many microaggressions and situations that immigrants are going through. It made me more compassionate to what they are really going through. I will say that the stories got a little repetitive at times, but again, I think this could have been mitigated if I had broken down how much I read in a day. It also weighed heavily on me how all of the stories left off on a sad ending, but I understand that not everything can have a happy ending.

All in all, I think the author did an excellent job of telling these stories and shedding light on situations. I think this book is much needed in our current political climate. I wish more people would step into someone else's shoes to get an understanding of what someone might be going through, and I think this book is a good place to do that.
