When I read the first impression I expected to have some deep issues that would be dealt in the book and probably the author would try to show the stereotypes and struggles faced by the immigrants in the US, but unfortunately lot of stories showed struggles which weren't very relevant or specific to the US. Infact, some of the stories shared issues where the immigrant struggled not being an immigrant but being poor or because of unsupportive families/husbands or issues of their own country. Some of the stories were really touching and I enjoyed them but overall it was a miss for me. Yes, the hardships shown were totally disheartening and unfortunate but I felt I probably missed the message that the author was trying to show. For me the title and the first impression did not connect with the stories in the book. This one was not for me or I had some other expectations totally.
