I really like the cover of this book, and the title drew me in as well. I think it's important for people to read stories about others whose experiences are not like their own.
This book was engaging and fresh. It was well-written, the author's strong voice pulling me in and not letting me go until I had finished it. I loved seeing things through her vivid descriptions, and I also enjoyed her dry sense of humor. Each of the stories brought something different and new to the collection and I enjoyed them all. The characters had strong voices as well as a sense of purpose which I feel is harder to do in short stories.
This is not my typicaly genre of reading, as I don't read many short story collections, but after reading this one, I may try reading more of them. I would love to read more from this author as well, and I look forward to her next book. It will be an auto-buy for me.
