This book, just like Deep and Shallow Lies, absolutely sucks you in. I loved the mystery and the romance entangled together, and I was dying to know what happened that summer 12 years ago.

My only problem is that I really felt like all the other characters were overlooking Avril's descent into madness, and weren't really concerned (besides Lex and Cole). I mean the girl is passing out and completely hallucinating, and most everyone isn't concerned. I thought that was really weird, and some of those scenes were hard to read because of how much they made me cringe.

However, the brightest point of this whole book is Lex, and after reading the acknowledgements it seems like his character is based on one of the author's best friends, which I think is so awesome.

If you're looking for something spooky, mysterious, tense, and enthralling, this book is a perfect atmospheric pick.
