Saving Paradise is a really good mystery thriller that kept my interest from page one! This book is well written and I could tell that this author loves Hawaii, and not onl do you get a mystery but a spot on brief history lesson.

Ex Special Forces Veteran Pono Hawkins is out getting ready to go out and surf when a dead body bumps him on his leg. Pono immediately drags her out of the water and calls the police. The woman was 27 year old Sylvia Gordon. She was a journalist doing an article first about crystal meth, and on the news they said it was accidental drowning. However, hours before, Benny (cop) told him The meth dealers killed her.

Knowing he won't get the truth he goes and finds his friend, an ex Marine named Bruiser to see if he knows what happened- he works at the paper as a security chief. Bruiser told him to go see Angie, her roommate. It is here he finds out that Sylvia was sent to Oahu to do research for a series The Post was doing featuring a big project costing billions of dollars to install huge wind turbines all over Maui, Lanai and Molokai. Sylvia was getting ready to expose the project as a terrible idea and so her friend think she was murdered.

Pono now knows there is something going on and he goes back to Bruiser and his friend tells him to talk to a Godfrey Slink, the man who hired her. Sylvia told Bruiser Godfrey told her not to publish article because he did not like it.

The mystery deepens and the plot twists and turns and I wasn't expecting a few things that happened. There was never a dull moment, and the book kept me reading it until I was done!

I loved all the characters in this book, liked the good ones and loved to hate the rotten ones. I liked the way this book also talked about the corruption of the government in Hawaii, and how they were ripping off the people with the worthless idea of the wind turbines. Pono relies on his gut and his skill as an Ex Special Forces soldier to help him know what to do and how to avoid getting killed.

I gave this book 5***** stars and am really glad I read it, and I hope you will read it too!
