This is a solid three-star book for me, so here we go. Pros: I was hooked by the concept of a bad-ass bookseller/private investigator and I loved Nikki’s character! I liked the balance of her backstory and the current plot line in addition to the overall concept of a modernized detective/thriller story. Cons: It was just too predictable and had too many cliches, including the “bad guy monologue” at the end where they reveal their whole plan conveniently in front of the main character. I really liked it in the beginning but the second half left a lot to be desired. I’m not sure if I’ll continue the series, I’m about 50/50 on it right now. I think it does shows promise, especially for a debut author, but I’m not sure on the execution of the story as of now.
