I may just be annoyed, but I'm not super into the whole author's fantasy of the "Strong Female Lead." His writing of her evaluating herself in the mirror immediately turned me off. I feel like there's probably a good book beyond this first look, but I don't really want anything to do with it because this is all I've seen. The synopsis sounds fantastic though, so I'm willing to be surprised.
