I had been looking forward to reading Savage Tongues by Azareen Van der Vliet Oloomi. I enjoyed the prose, but honestly struggled to get invested in the piece. I made it through the first 50 pages before putting it down. To be clear, it was not that the writing was poor or that I ultimately wasn't interested in the content, but rather that I think I was reading it at the wrong time.

Savage Tongues requires an investment from the reader. A willingness to dive into tough topics and engage in reflection. When I picked up Savage Tongues, I was admittedly in a space to do neither and felt that I was doing a disservice to Azareen Van der Vliet Oloomi's work by trying to read it superficially.

I wholeheartedly intend to pick up Savage Tongues again when I can earnestly invest more attention to the piece. For me, this is not marked as a DNF, but rather a piece postponed and one that I am very much so excited to dive into again.
