I went into this book thinking it would give me the same vibes as My Dark Vanessa but with cultural enrollment as well. However, it did not meet the level for me. I found it lacking in engagement. There was a lot of pain in this book and it highlighted the pain that many Muslims in America are currently facing. I loved learning more about those experiences and the impact that the hatred has had on that community. This story at times was very heart wrenching because of those aspects. As far as the "love" story goes on just did not find it engaging or interesting. I think its sick whenever an adult takes advantage of someone that they should be caring for and that is dramatically younger than them. This book had two very powerful messages that it was trying to project but only the racial side really stuck with me. Unfortunately this was just not the one for me.
