Apologies for the overdue review!
Savage Tongues is the story of Arezu, an Iranian American teenager that enters an illicit affair with Omar, the forty year old step-nephew of her father that abandoned her on her trip to Spain. Over twenty years later, Arezu reflects upon the experience, questioning the events and wondering how it has shaped her after all.
Initially, I was quite excited for the book. I love a good secret, and I especially am drawn to love stories about characters making morally questionable decisions. However, it did not quite do it for me. I think the author did a great job with the character development and backgrounds, but I wished for more from the plot end. I also found the book rather dark and tough to make it through. However, it has been a while since I last read the book, so I may pick it up again in the future to give it another shot.
