I enjoyed reading this book. Although it should come with a trigger warning. I found the characters to be fascinating. The trauma the main character endured as a teen was something that she had been carrying around for twenty years. The story of her coming to terms with what happened to her was raw and heartbreaking. I have not read many books set in the Middle East so I enjoyed learning about the different culture in Iran and Palestine. The main character's relationship with her husband and her best friend are also strong points in the book. The cover and title are not that eye-catching for me. I did like the colors on the cover though. Her description of her apartment makes you feel like you can smell and feel the twenty years of neglect in there. The author is very descriptive in her writing. You can feel the main characters' pain throughout the book.
