Lyrical and introspective; reminds me of Jhumpa Lahiri, in that much of the story is told to you, but the story unfolds like a carpet being rolled out to make a path for the reader to follow. It's not commandeering in any way, but I can't stop reading because I want to know what's happening next. Such an easy book to become invested in.
