This book appears to be another iteration of the Lolita storyline, but offers the exploration of abuse and advantage of an older man through the lens of a young woman not just in a foreign country, but coming from a country where she isn't welcome because of her mother's ancestry, and coming from a parent that's only interested when he can play hero. I imagine that this book explores things in rich depth and complexity, but because of this it may only be able to be consumed in small doses to avoid becoming banal or overwhelming.
