Unfortunately, I didn’t actually finish this book, but I did read over halfway through (about three hundred pages) so I decided it was worth it to write a review. I was actually a bit timid starting out, because this cover looked so violent, but it wasn’t quite as gorey as I’d feared. A few parts were a bit unnecessary in my opinion, but it wasn’t really a problem. I actually quite enjoyed the first hundred pages. I thought the characters were all really interesting and it was set in a complex, fascinating fantasy world. There were a few moments where this seemed so complex that it was a little confusing, but I went with it because I was intrigued by the storylines.

The reason that I lost interest was because I figured that these individual storylines would start to paint a bigger picture, to coincide, or lead towards one thing. However, each of the characters’ storylines seemed to just continue going on by themselves. I ended up feeling a little bored, because the story wasn’t coming together and started to feel disjointed. This may have just be me, specifically since I don’t often read this sub-genre of fantasy, but I wouldn’t recommend this one if separate storylines would bother you.
