Great for fans of Bulwer-Lytton!
This book is definitely a great read for fans of Edward Bulwer-Lytton! There are a lot of lush descriptions and adjectives and stormy, emotional conversations between the characters. The writing is definitely what a lot of people would characterize as "purple prose."
It's basically all told in the present tense, emphasizing the action and immediacy. The action and snarky characters and dialogue will appeal to fans of Dungeons & Dragons (if that's still something people do; I was never "into that").
I guess our heroine Evie gives readers one of those "strong female characters" that people are looking for. And she is as fierce and combative as any male hero of old.
The 512 pages make for a swift, immersive read!
