Savage Legion looks to the be the start of an epic fantasy series featuring a woman named Lexi as she works to defend her land from a corrupt political scheme. This First Look included a lot of description of both the world and the characters in it, but we didn't get a lot of coherent history to start things off. We know that Lexi is appearing before a Council, but we're not immediately sure why. We know that her husband has disappeared, but again we don't know why. There seems to be some intrigue building in terms of what her husband was looking into before he disappeared. The thing that I have liked most about the story thus far is the description of a non-binary character and the difficulties that Lexi has understanding their mindset and discussing how other people view their Undeclared status. Ultimately, this First Look was a little heavy on description and light on plot for me. I would have preferred a little more backstory because the first chapter leaves me with so many questions that I can't determine which details are important to the story, and which are simply world building. That's just personal preference.
