The title of this review is first tied to the fact that I received this book in the mail just a day before it's release day - which meant I pushed through the chapters in just under a day! So close call to say the least. That said, it's not an overwhelming undertaking when you consider how easy it is to turn page after page.... need we say "page turner"? And then, you could in some respects use the phrase "close call" to describe many aspects of the book itself. Michael Ray Ewing brings to life each character in such a way that you cannot help but want to tag along with each of them. In some ways, the story becomes a sort of cat and mouse game (ahem, again did we say close call) between the hunter and the hunted. Aside from the quick paced narrative, the tone of the novel itself also helps to drive the story home and to bring the characters to life on the page.
