I have to start out with saying I love that this novel starts out in Chicago, having grown up just outside the city; I really enjoy novels that take place there. The dialogue is really great at giving an insight into the characters outside of their actions. The descriptive language is effective as well. I’m really curious how the owl necklace will play into things as the novel progresses; hopefully it’s more than just a lost and found item. Overall this excerpt really jumped right into things and kept me hooked.
