This book was so cute and made me hungry!

I enjoyed the way the family businesses were the foundation of the rivalry but what forces them together is to take on the larger foe: a large corporation. I appreciated the exploration of how a single corporation affects the livelihoods of the entire community and that boycotts of morality are not always financially viable for those the most victimized, yet anyone supporting them inevitably contributes to the downfall of the entire community.

One of my favorite parts was all the baking references, particularly about the "Roemeu e Julieta" desserts they were making and how that paralleled with the romance between our protagonists.

I also was pleasantly surprised at the various perspectives on tradition and history in baking while also exploring and adding personal identity .

A delicious palette cleanser!
