The first couple chapters of Salt and Sugar managed to show its humor, charm, and depth. It’s a YA modern day retelling of Romeo & Juliet with two teens of rival family bakeries. So already, how fun is that?! We see some funny ropes play out in these first couple chapters, but we also already get a taste of the deeper themes the characters will have to deal with such as grief. Even the first few chapters of this book feel like a warm hug and a fresh chocolate chip cookie wrapped up together, and I’m very excited to read on.
