Wow, Saint X. This was a surprising, unexpected gut-punch and everything I look for in a book.

Themes: loss, obsession, friendship, privilege, prejudice, love, perspective.
TW/CW: violence, loss, drugs/overdose, sex (none of these are gratuitous IMO)

Summary/thoughts: on a family vacation, Allison, stunning beauty and idolized big sister to Claire, goes missing. Years later, Claire, still deeply affected by the loss of her sister, crosses paths with one of the suspects connected to her disappearance. What follows is a truly marvelous and twisty narrative from varied perspectives and well developed characters. I am impressed and give this 4.5 stars (rounded up to 5). “Stories lead us to the truth and they lead us astray, and how are we to know the difference?” (p. 331).
