This book was WILD!!!!!!!!!! The only 2 emotions I experienced were curiosity and anxiety.
Of course I wanted to find out what happened to Alison. I guess in a way the truth is revealed in the end. But why am I still left unsatisfied!??!

First off, anytime I think of a charming blond girl, who believes the world is their oyster and is so intelligent that adults find her intimidating...I think of Alison from PLL. (Of course her name HAPPENS to be Alison and literally...she is her in every way except the part of blackmailing people b/c she knows everyone's secrets)

I thought our focus would be on Alison, the missing girl. But NOOOOO. It's on her disturbed younger sister. Yes, she had her weird quirks about her: the shy kid who would air write words. There was something off about her. She really CREEPED me out!!!! So, if you have an older sister who you look up to...wouldn't you be upset knowing the day before you were to head back home from vacation, she's missing? Nope, not Claire. She is TOTALLY unfazed by it. Claire is more concerned that her parents aren't paying her any attention..how guilty they will feel forgetting about her, grovelling to their knees asking for her forgiveness.

None of this was normal...and so disturbing. Thinking ok...she's like, what? 8? Maybe she is not consciously aware of what's fully going on and it will hit her someday. No. Nuh uhh....For her 9th birthday her parents treat her to a trip to Paris with her aunt. Claire does not understand it, but she accepts the trip. Thinking "I've been to Paris and Alison hasn't". It's so weird!!! She even secretly kept track of the day she outlived Alison: 18 years, 3 months and 12 days. (I say the parents play a HUGE part in her strange behavior b/c they never sent her to counseling...they just avoided it)

Then on top of dealing with Claire and her disturbed self, we'd dive into the lives of other vacationers, the people from Saint X island and most importantly Clive. In the beginning I was 100% confused and thought there was a trio of best friends. (Thank God for annotating) I kept flipping back and forth, finally putting together CLIVE IS GOGO. From the get-go I thought they were 2 seperate people and I'm like "this is book is too weird". Grasping that only made it a little better. Basically Clive's ENTIRE life is ruined the moment him and his best bud Edwin are listed as prime suspects in the murder of Alison. Which they are found not guilty.

So he's trying to start a new life in NY and guess who happens to run into him...that's right disturbed Claire. She becomes obsessed with him and starts stalking him. From watching him from across the street at a restaurant to following him home every night...for months!!!! And doing it again, and again, making him the center of her life.

This book left me so uneasy I honestly have nothing else to say lol.
