I decided to not finish this book at the 33% mark. This thriller was very slow to unravel and the omnipresent narrator made it hard to connect to any of the characters. And I did not find any of the characters very likable.

The writing style was on the wordy side and the pacing had me bored with the plot after the opening chapters. The format of how the story was told didn't make a lot of sense to me and I never felt the turn paging sensation I look for in thrillers. The sister changing her name early on felt a bit random to me and it wasn't ever truly explained, at least to the part I got to.

After looking up spoilers for how this one ended, I’m feeling pretty great about my decision to bail.

*spoilers*
Apparently the reader never gets an explanation for what happened to the sister on the island, other than exonerating some of the suspects and learning what didn't happen to her, we never learn what did happen to her. This would have been very frustrating had I slogged through to the end of the novel.
