I originally thought this was going to be a more fast paced thriller. It was more of a mystery/character study. The character study part of it was ok, I didn't much care for any of the characters nor were they relatable AT ALL so it made it hard to get through. I kept waiting for "something" to happen in the present timeline during the book, but the payoff wasn't worth it. Lot of inner dialogues, street tours, depressing descriptions of life on the fringes of society and minor characters that took up too much story-time only to disappear after one outing, I was looking forward to finally getting to the whodunit part. Let’s just say that the denouement was less than satisfying. I really wanted to love this because I thought the plot seemed intriguing, but it didn't meet my expectations.
