Promising, but ultimately disappointing

I had very high hopes for this book because I normally love mysteries/thrillers, especially with a family element. The premise drew me in and for the first quarter of the book I was intrigued. However, I was ultimately disappointed with the book's pacing and the story's ending.

The first chapter of the book is dedicated to telling us what happened during a family vacation on Saint X, during which the oldest daughter mysteriously disappears and is eventually found dead. The rest of the book is a character analysis of Claire, the younger sister, who was only 7 when her teenage sister died. As an adult, Claire is still seeking answers to the mystery surrounding her sister's death. While interesting, I found the story to be slow-paced and drawn out, with an ultimately disappointing ending.
