Not for me
I've had my eye on "Saint X" for a long time thanks largely to all of the buzz around it and the really eye-catching cover art. To be terribly honest, it was a slog for me to get through even the first few pages of this. The run-on sentences feel never-ending and are incredibly difficult to parse. I thought it really needed some work to simplify the sentence structure. But maybe it was meant to contribute to the "slow burn" feeling? Either way, this isn't a book I could see myself getting all of the way through--and I am very rarely a DNF reader.
The plot itself held a lot of promise. Seven-year-old Claire's older sister goes missing and is murdered during a family vacation. Later in life, Claire encounters a suspect in the murder and the story moves from there. It could have been better than it was.
