I would rate Saint X by Alexis Schaitkin as a 3.5 star rounded up to a 4 star.

Schaitkin shines a light on the ties between race and privilege as a family takes a vacation to a fancy resort on a fictional Caribbean island, Saint X. Claire Thomas is a seven year old child when her sister, Allison goes missing from their room in the final night of their family vacation. A few days later her body is found with no evidence as to how she died.

This was a great debut novel but needed a bit of editing or tidying up.
The overall story was gripping but if you’re looking for a fast-paced thriller this is not it! I found that the book became unnecessarily descriptive and drawn out towards the end when it could have wrapped up sooner.

Overall, I did enjoy this book and found it to be an interesting story. Would recommend to others but warn them about the slow burn.

Thank you to Celadon Books for my copy in exchange for my honest review.
