Eight Reasons to move Saint X to the top of your TBR pile.

1. Perspectives. The author told the story from several different angles, including some I would have never expected – like the gentleman gives tours of where Alison spent her final hours. I was especially delighted to learn how the most memorably described but bit-part characters, guy in the dolphin-print swim trunks, life unfolded after vacationing in Saint X.
2. Great pacing. The story advances quickly.
3. Setting. Like the Beach Boys did with Kokomo, and Taylor Jenkins Read with Daisy Jones & The Six, Alexis Schairkin will dupe readers into Googling to find out more Saint X.
4. Prose. Alexis’s writing is nothing short of gorgeous.
5. Insights. I had to turn back to Alexis’s bio several times for an age check. She gets deep and real at times, providing a perceptiveness that belies her years.
6. Relatable. I could identify with the emotions and perspectives of many of the characters.
7. Great discussion points. Book clubs are going to have a lot to chew on with this book.
8. Cross-over appeal. This book has something for multiple genre-lovers: mystery, psychological thriller, literary fiction, and a touch of mythology.

Bravo to Alexis Schaitkin on her brilliant debut novel, and many thanks to Celadon Books for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
