I couldn't put this down! The author found a way to make you feel like you are really in the characters' shoes and understand their mind frame as they try to live their lives after a teenager is found murdered on a Caribbean vacation and how it is still impacting them twenty years later. It probably shouldn't be marketed as a thriller, it's much more a character-driven drama based on a murder but still well worth the read. The story included great themes around how deep the ties between race and privilege run. The author did a fantastic job of creating a unique narrative while touching on common themes and bringing attention to just how far many privileged Americans need to progress. I can't wait to read more from this author!
