I struggled with this book. I couldn’t quite figure out what it wanted to be. I think it’s in a very similar vein to The Glass Hotel. This wasn’t so much a thriller and not very suspenseful either but I don’t think it was necessarily trying to be even though the storyline would lead you to believe it is. This book took several months for me to finish and I think that was mostly just because it was a slow book in general. No doubt the author is a talented writer but this one just didn’t engage me like I was hoping it would. I’d be interested to see what her next novel would be like since this was her debut. At the end of the day, this was a beautifully written story but perhaps just not for me.
