This novel completely sucked me in and would not let me go. Claire's family is on vacation during their winter vacation at a resort in the Caribbean on an island called Saint X. While there they have a very typical vacation until the last day. Claire's older sister, who is 18 is found missing. Claire has always admired how beautiful and outgoing her sister is while she is shy and awkward with a little OCD. The novel moves forward with Claire in her 20s and she suddenly becomes obsessed with finding out what happened to her sister.
I also became obsessed with finding out what happened to Alison. The novel is written from Claire's point of view but the author would include little snippets of what other key characters were thinking. I really enjoyed this novel and did not want to put it down until I knew exactly what happened. There were moments when I really felt for the characters. This was an excellent book and I would recommend it to anyone.
