I read this amazing debut in two days! My head is still spinning after reading the last 30 pages. Saint X is an island in the Caribbean where the privileged go to relax and indulge in food, drink, sun and lazy hours. Every year the Thomas family takes a vacation and this year it is to Saint X. Claire, the quiet shy one, and Alison, the rebel wild child, are inseparable as sisters. Tragedy strikes when college-aged Alison goes missing. There is no spoiler here as her body is found several days later. Suspects are called in, the tabloids go crazy with the news, and a family falls apart. Years later Alison’s death remains a mystery and Claire now in her twenties is still obsessed with her sister’s past. This escalates when Claire/Emily finds a man living in NYC who was a suspect. This is a haunting story that takes grief and obsession to the next level. The author does a fantastic job in bringing the past and the present together for one unbelievable ending. Yes I have a major headache and yes I do recommend even though my head is pounding. Time for a lighter read!!
