The writing style of Saint X is different than anything I’ve ever read before - I loved it! It makes the book stand out so much from other fiction.
Kind of a blend between 1st and 3rd person but within each chapter. So while Emily (Claire) is telling her story she is also being narrated which I thought was kind of cool.
Claire is just 6 when her older sister Alison is killed on a family vacation to Saint X. Claire never fully gets to know her sister so once she’s old enough so seeks answers to what happened since the case was never solved. She makes an unlikely friend on her endeavor and finds some interesting things out about Alison. There are different theories as to what happened to her and different witnesses contribute their opinions throughout the book. I thought it all tied together really nicely and they style really helped to create a completely unique story experience. The whole time I was reading I kept thinking of the Natalee Hollaway case and I would be interested to know if that was an inspiration for the author.
