If I had known going in this was going to be a "haunted house" on a forest road then I probably wouldn't have requested it. I liked the Blair Witch movie when it came out a long time ago and this book does do a good job of imitating that style but the paranormal factor honestly just reminded me of a bad horror movie. Since I was expecting more of contemporary mystery this was a let down.
The scary parts of the book just weren't scary enough to me and there were so many characters in the story without enough personality it was hard to keep track. Not to say this wouldn't work for others who are expecting and wanting to read this kind of story. I read my fair share of Fear Street and Goosebumps books growing up and thoroughly enjoyed them, this just wasn't what I expected or wanted.
