Get Ready for the Game
This book utilizes the documentary style, which is a mixture of first-person narrative and various pieces of "evidence" that help advance the story. This format also allows the author to tantalize you with bits of information without being trapped in what the narrator might know or reveal. It does create more of a puzzle effect, which fits in well with the "game" approach. The different segments also allow for the development of the other characters without all of them being filtered through the narrator. The excerpt draws the reader into the book with all sorts of hints and foreshadowing, while creating a tension. In the segment available, I did not find much scary, though more is implied down the line. This should prove to be an engaging read.
