Synopsis:

Sara Donoghue's sister, Becca, has been missing for a year. Everyone assumes she has run off with her no good boyfriend and doesn't want to be found. However, Sara knows better. She knows of Becca's obsession with finding "the road"... of rescuing Lucy Gallows who also disappeared more than 60 years before. Two days before the anniversary of Lucy's disappearance, a mysterious text message is sent out to everyone in Sara's school.

"Find a partner.

Find a key.

Find the road."

Will Sara and her estranged friends come together to "play the game?" Can they find the road and save Becca and maybe Lucy along the way? Or is there so much more to the legend than what's told? There's only one way to find out. But remember "be careful what roads you take, and be careful who you follow down them."

Review:

5/5 stars for Rules for Vanishing! This was such a gripping ghost story. I didn't want it to end!!!

At first it was a little hard to keep up with the characters and who was who, but it actually turns out that's part of the story. After I got my bearings on characters it was much easier to follow along. There are scenes of horror and gore (which is right up my alley - especially for fall reading). With each gate that is passed things get creepier and creepier. This book definitely kept my heart racing.

The format is a little bit different. It bounces between a written statement, video footage, text messages, and e-mails to describe what's happening and what has happened. I enjoy multi-media writing, so this was a huge perk of the book. It was very fast paced and enthralling. I can't recommend it enough!!
