I feel like Ghost Stories have such a basis in American folklore especially ones, like Rules for Vanishing, that utilize the "ghost roads". You know the rhymes and the scary stories from childhood where your car gets stuck on a railroad track at just the right time of night and suddenly you feel a push and the car starts moving. Or the mysterious hitch hiker who you pick up but suddenly disappears after you drop them off (I'm using extreme generalizations in those two descriptions). Rules for Vanishing has all the feels of the most chilling and spooky ghost stories you've memorized over the years. I cannot wait to delve further into Becca's disappearance and to find out if there's truly a supernatural element to what happened or if the truth will be grounded more in reality. A cautionary-type tale if you will.
